Washington, D.C. - Congressman Kevin Brady (TX-08) released the following statement after Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced he was deploying Texas National Guard troops to assist the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) with the escalating humanitarian crisis at the southern border:
“I support Governor Abbott’s decision to deploy Texas National Guard troops to assist our agents at the border. While the crisis worsens, House Democrats continue to place party over country and have voted to block funding for humanitarian aid 17 times. Customs and Border Patrol Agents are facing record-breaking migrant numbers without the resources they need – and Texas is forced to pay the price for Speaker Pelosi’s unwillingness to take legislative action and secure our nation’s border."
