Nobody in either major political party doubts that there is a spree killing and violence problem in the United States today.  The question is, what do we do about it?  To point at guns as the problem is ludicrous, since they have been around decades before spree killings became common, which started in the 1990s. The problem is not guns, but the misuse and abuse of them.  That has only been a common phenomenon in the last few decades.

USADC has been carefully studying this issue: it has “tried to dig deeper on this subject through my radio show, and there are many logical explanations that the media and progressives in politics do not want to address. What is interesting is the sheer number of people in these spree killing stories that suffer from mental health issues and take medicines with warnings of “leading to suicidal thoughts” or “violence.” In fact, mental health specialist Dr. Linda Lagemann, has told my audience that the ‘vast majority’ of these assailants, are on these type of drugs and their use should be reexamined. She also noted that the vast majority of these drugs were developed in the 1990s. In addition, approximately 80 percent of these killers are documented to be on this class of medications, according to Lagemann. It is important to note they were not on these drugs because of suicidal or violent tendencies, but these issues developed because of these medications. Meanwhile, Lt. Col. David Grossman, who is a best selling author and leading authority on “killology,” has told my audience about how the rise of incredibly realistic and violent video games since the 1990s which has created whole generations that are desensitized about killing. Think about the rise of these games and the growth in this type of violence. Evidence indicates there is a direct link between the rise of these games and these killings (particularly by young people in schools, who are the majority of such perpetrators).”  Both Lagemann and Grossman were guests on the Price of Business show with USADC National News Editor, Kevin Price.

Today, House Democrats began a major gun grab efforts that certainly lacks the Constitutional muster to make it through the Judicial system.  House Republicans made a vigorous but unsuccessful effort to stop the bill — destined to die in the Senate or be vetoed if it goes to the President.

Congressman Kevin Brady is one of the most senior members of the House.  The Texas Republican made the following plea to his colleagues:  “I have two children. I want them safe at school, at work, and in our community. Americans deserve real solutions to combat gun violence; we can achieve  that while protecting the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens.”

He went on to discuss the Democrats unconstitutional and ineffective “solution.”

“We should do everything that works to stop gun violence. The key being – works.

“Regrettably, ‘universal’ backgrounds checks wouldn’t have stopped America’s mass shootings, but accurate background checks can. Fort Hood, Charleston, Southerland Springs and the recent shooting in Aurora – all might have been prevented with real-time, accurate background checks.

“That’s why I and other Republicans support a new law to fix the flaws in the national background check system – insisting that local, state and federal governments work together to share information and stop firearms from getting into the hands of those who shouldn’t have them.

“We have to do more. I support more mental health resources, more research into what drives mass shootings, more local law enforcement training and more to stop black-market firearms sales and ‘straw purchasers’.

“I have two children. I want them safe at school, at work, and in our community. Americans deserve real solutions to combat gun violence; we can achieve  that while protecting the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens.”

Congressman Brady’s office provided additional background and context on the gun violence battle in Congress:

“In the 115^thCongress, Representative Brady supported these important pieces of legislation:

• The Fix NICS Act, which strengthens and enforces the laws overseeing the National Instant Criminal Background Check System;
• The STOP School Violence Act to provide grants to states, local governments, and Indian tribes to improve school security; and
• Clarifications to the “Dickey Amendment,” which finally allows the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to conduct research on gun violence.

“In addition, Representative Brady is supporting the Mass Violence Prevention (MVP) Act of 2019:

• The MVP Act addresses the underlying causes of repeated tragedies, such as failing to enforce existing laws and the lack of coordination between law enforcement.
• The MVP Act will reduce the flow of firearms into the black market, limiting the number of weapons available to criminals; and
• The MVP Act establishes a fusion center at the FBI—improving law enforcement coordination, information sharing and responsiveness to help prevent these mass violence attacks before they happen.
