U.S. Rep. Kevin Brady will be rolling up his sleeve for a worthy cause when he plans to stop by the Conroe VA Medical Clinic and donate blood, during the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Drive this Friday.

The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center will host a blood drive at the clinic on Friday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. and could help go a long way in helping those who were injured in the Las Vegas shooting, and your friends and neighbors here at home.

About 1,000 donations a day are required in the Texas Gulf Coast region to meet the ongoing needs of patients undergoing cancer treatment, having surgeries, being treated for anemia and much more.

When the local blood supply is strong, the Blood Center may meet local needs and be as prepared as possible to assist other areas in times of disaster.

Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is the primary supplier of blood components to more than 170 hospitals and health care facilities in a 26-county Texas Gulf Coast region.

Donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good general health. Individuals who are 16 years old, at least 122 pounds, in good general health and have their parents’ consent also may donate.

The donation process is simple, taking only about one hour. Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is an independent, nonprofit blood center that is not affiliated with the American Red Cross.

You can schedule your donation online or call 1(888) 482-5663.
