“This decision was driven not by the Constitution, but by left-leaning ideological bias.”

“This decision was driven not by the Constitution, but by the left-leaning ideological bias of the supreme court. Why else would they reject higher medical standards and women's safety for lower, less safe health care for women? This is a sad day for Texas and for those who fight to protect the sanctity of life."

U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady issued the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a Texas law designed to protect the health of women seeking abortions.

“This decision was driven not by the Constitution, but by the left-leaning ideological bias of the Supreme Court. Why else would they reject higher medical standards and women's safety for lower, less safe health care for women? This is a sad day for Texas and for those who fight to protect the sanctity of life."

Background: Argued before the U.S. Supreme Court on March 2, 2016, Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt challenged two provisions of a Texas law requiring doctors who perform abortions to have privileges to admit patients at a nearby hospital and that abortion clinics meet health and safety standards comparable to outpatient surgical centers.  These common sense provisions were passed into law in Texas to protect women.
