Washington, DC — Congressman Kevin Brady, (R-TX) released the following statement on the resignation of U.S. House Speaker John Boehner, who has been speaker since 2011.
“Speaker Boehner displayed a true act of leadership, sacrifice and humility. John is the most pro-life and pro-defense speaker that I have served with. Cathy and I want to thank Speaker Boehner and his wife Debbie for their service to the people of Ohio and the nation.
Background: Speaker Boehner has represented Ohio’s 8th congressional district since 1991. He served as Chairman of the Committee on Education and Labor, Republican Conference Chair, House Majority Leader, House Minority Leader and Speaker.
